Our mission
International Wire Bank was founded by its member governments so that sending public and institutional funds across borders would no longer depend on slow, costly chains of intermediary banks. We make international transfers fast, predictable and open to inspection.
Governments, central banks, development agencies and humanitarian organisations use IWB as the settlement layer beneath their payments. We do not compete with commercial banks; we connect them.
Nations run on different rails, currencies and rules. IWB sits between them, so an agency in Accra can fund a programme in Dhaka through one instruction, not ten correspondent banks.
As a body owned by its member states, we have no commercial interest in the spread. Every rate, fee and settlement step is shown before funds move and recorded after.
IWB settles funds at the institutional level; our regional outlets then push them onward to beneficiary banks, in local hours and under local rules.
A decade of institutional settlement across every region, reported openly each year.
From the first instruction to credit in the beneficiary's bank account: four steps, one reference.
A government, agency or central bank instructs a transfer from its IWB wallet, or from a partner bank on the IWB network.
IWB applies the published exchange rate at the moment of instruction. Sender and recipient see the same figure before confirming.
Funds move between IWB wallets in seconds and are posted to both ledgers under a single, auditable reference.
The nearest regional outlet pushes funds onward to the beneficiary bank through its domestic payment system.
Our busiest corridors connect the regions where public funding, remittances and relief flow every day. Dedicated liquidity in each keeps settlement fast, even at peak volume.

“IWB cut our disbursement time to field offices from five days to one afternoon, and every transfer arrives with a ledger our auditors can follow.”
“The exchange rate on screen was the rate we got. For an agency moving funds in four currencies, that predictability is everything.”

An independent audit committee reviews IWB's ledgers each quarter and results are published for every member government.
